The Lobro Joint. PB blast the nuts and bolts. Using
a hex socket and 12 mm wrench remove the 6 bolts and nuts.
|
![]() |
For the stubborn bolts (I had 2 that I had covered
in PB Blaster) use vise grips to pull them out.
|
![]() |
Take the joint apart careful not to damage the rubber
boot on the left side of the pic. I did not replace this boot.
|

Note the position of the gasket upon removal.

This picture is not right. This gives you a pic of where the nut is. Here is what I did. Using a Big 2 foot plus Breaker bar and putting the shaft in a vise. (Note: Do not squeeze the shaft too hard in a vise or you may bend it and have to replace it.) I broke the nut loose. I have to admit it was Really on there. |

Use a Gear puller to remove the lobro joint from
the spline shaft if needed.
|

If you did not buy the carrier bearings DO so now! Grab the carrier bearing with both hands, pull it up and rip it off of the inner bearing. Bye Bye rubber :) |
![]() |
Remove the inner part of the carrier with a puller.
|
![]() |
Clean up and add a little grease to the spline.
|
![]() |
Place the new carrier bearing assembly onto the
shaft spline. As far as you can and put it on straight. Careful not
to have it crooked.
|
![]() |
Reassemble adding grease where needed, The big Conan
Nut and washer will press the bearing back on the rest of the way.
The Nut goes on very tight and can do the job. Just turn it slowly.
|

Here is the Nut and you should order the washers
as well. Washer Not pictured. Looks like MA 142517 (need two
of these). The Prop Washer you need is MT 203641 (2 Total).
|

Tighten it on by hand slowly to evenly press the
new bearing on.
|

Once on, torque that bad boy to about 110 Ft. Lbs
(Consult Manual on torque specs).
|

Back together and cleaned up. Shiny!
|

I added a layer of grease to the inside and took a grocery plastic bag and tied it over it to keep the dirt and debris out. We will get back to this later. |

Here I am breaking the other Nut loose to remove
this carrier bearing. I had my wife help here and keep the shaft level.
