Back Prothane Motor Mount
AKA Welcome to hell. This was a serious pain to do. None the less,
I did it. Hopefully I can help you do it faster or easier.

Jack up the engine as shown on the drivers side mount page. Remove the control cable box (my name for it) (three 10mm bolts). Push it back as shown and out of the way. This will need to be done not unless you are Gumby. |

Here are where those 3 bolts go to clarify.
|

Way down behind the engine lies a mount. This will
need to come out *sigh*.

I left the battery in because moving it would not seem to give me more space. You may choose to do so. I used two 17mm ratchets and removed the rod that goes through the mount. |

This is the rod out and greased up for reinstall later.

There is a piece of the mount bracket that impedes a ratchet getting to this. Of course, that would make it too easy. So, using a 14 mm wrench, try to loosen it the direction shown. |

If you cannot budge it as I could not (not enough leverage reaching down that low) use the lever system you learned in middle school. The circle shows a socket placed against the firewall away from lines or anything that will break. I then placed a big breaker bar against it. The lower end of the bar on the wrench, I pushed towards the windshield of the car and broke the bolt loose.

Since I did not feel like buying a long extension,
I put a bunch together and taped them to prevent them from falling under
the car.

Once you get it to a certain point, you can use the extension to finish removing the bolt. Move to the one you can get to and remove that one as well (arrow shows it). |

Move to the one on the other side (drivers side) and
use the lever system on it as well.
|

From the passenger side, pull the mount out and rejoice.
|

Here is the mount removed.
|

Now refer to the old
mount / sleeve removal page.
|

New mount stuck in per the instructions provided with
the mounts.

Put the bolt through the mount first and then add the 3 other bolts. It is not an easy process but you are getting a lot less engine movement. This will help you with your torque. Go out, drive around and vibrate. |
